I as a blogger too never liked spam comments. Sure, when you comment at reputable sites and ypu link it back to your own, it can surely get traffic. But commenting about your site or plain spam is a bad idea indeed and something disrespectful to the webmaster or to the article’s author. You can comment all you want and link it to your site, but I think you should make sure that your comment is relevant and not something that can be labeled with big letters: SPAM.

Not only that but I get a warm fuzzy feeling (not) when I see the poster hides behind a GoogleMail account…. gutless.

I might be doing the same like what you did here, “revealing” spam comments. I got loads of spam comments these days. I like the idea though, I’m not sure whether widecircles is outsourcing their SEO strategy, they better stop if they did.

Nice one, you forgot to mention spam comments that just have random letters on them, ‘kfghfkghdlg’ and the ‘Nice website, I bumped on it searching for this and that (url),
